Len Steiner is the founder and principal of Steiner Consulting Group, which he launched in 1987. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the operational efficiencies, sales growth, and profitability of food companies around the world. Today Len works with a number of top retail, food service, and meat-processing organizations that need to optimize their market performance in the food business. Prior to consulting, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Minnesota, College of Science and Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration (with his thesis written on CME Cattle Futures contracts) from the University of Minnesota. Len has also held leadership roles with various global retail, food service, and meat-processing companies, giving him a unique and broad perspective on the industry. His resume includes roles with Ponderosa, Supervalu, Hormel, Tyson, and others. He draws from his diverse experience, including designing meat-processing plants and implementing buying and distribution systems. His creative approach to understanding needs of his clients, especially the meat industry, is what sets him apart. He sees the “nuts and bolts” of the operation along with the big picture economics and the industry at large.
